Backend Web Developer
Pocket Tales is looking for a full-time Backend Web Developer to start at the ground level of building an exciting web application for children’s ebooks. The developer will work with a team of developers to bring the Pocket Tales online store and web application to life. The ideal candidate can produce clean, high quality code with scalable architecture that works seamlessly with our rich internet application.

Responsibilities will include:

• Work with the development team to develop a database driven web application.
• Design, implement and maintain back-end for web application.
• Interact with front end development team to create a seamless rich media user experience.

• Experience with server setup and virtualization a plus.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proficiency with a wide variety of server-side programming languages.
• Familiarity with front end web development (HTML/XHTML/CSS/JS and/or Flash)
• Experience rapidly developing robust websites (personal or side projects as important as formal work experience)

• Desire to work in a startup environment and an appreciation of its challenges and rewards.

• Extra Consideration Given to Candidates that Can:*

• Convert website designs into standards-compliant HTML/XHTML/CSS (see position for Frontend Web Developer)

Compensation
Compensation will include salary + equity/ stock options.

About Pocket Tales
Pocket Tales is an online store and reading environment for digital children’s books. In other words, Pocket Tales will make it possible for parents and kids to purchase their favorite children’s books in a digital format, and then read and interact with them directly in their web browser.
