Web Graphics/ UI Designer

Pocket Tales is looking for a full-time Web Graphics/UI Designer to start at the ground level of building an exciting web application for children’s ebooks. The designer will work with a team of developers to bring the Pocket Tales online store and web application to life. The ideal candidate can produce professional, unique web designs that appeal to children and are easy for them to use.

Responsibilities will include:

• Rapidly creating website designs and visual mock-ups
• Working closely with the development team on UI implementation efforts
• Owning the Pocket Tales visual brand image

• Assisting in the visual design of marketing materials as needed

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong aptitude for original graphic design
• An artistic imagination
• Experience developing websites and UI’s (personal or side projects as important as formal work experience)

• Desire to work in a startup environment and an appreciation of its challenges and rewards.

Extra Consideration Given to Candidates that Can:

• Convert website designs into standards-compliant HTML/XHTML/CSS (see position for Frontend Web Developer)

• Develop in rich internet applications languages such as Flash, Flex, etc. (see position for RIA Developer)

Compensation
Compensation will include salary + equity/ options

About Pocket Tales
Pocket Tales is an online store and reading environment for digital children’s books. In other words, Pocket Tales will make it possible for parents and kids to purchase their favorite children’s books in a digital format, and then read and interact with them directly in their web browser.
