part time Web Intern

at Kiwanis International in Indianapolis

Working on real-world projects and making a positive impact through service will be a boon to your future. Here’s an opportunity for both.

Kiwanis—one of the world’s largest service organizations meeting the needs of children—is offering Web Team internships at its International Office in Indianapolis. Internships are for first- through third-year students in Web, journalism, communications, and/or related classes.

Web interns not only will build upon their Web content management knowledge and hone their online skills, but they will help improve the world.

Interns will be part of a team managing Kiwanis Web sites and other online projects offering a great range of study, strategy, multi-generational collaboration and hands-on work. Interns have their own cubicle and workstation and will be included in team huddles, lunches and other activities. Free breakfast on Fridays; jeans all week.

Position requires strong organization skills and attention to detail. This is a production environment where a balance of speed and accuracy is important. Interns must understand the importance of quality control in even the smallest of tasks as they will have project and task ownership from day one. This is not a filing or fetching coffee position.

Candidates need not have prior internship or Web design experience. Orientation and learning will be hands-on with our Web team.

Proven ability to work in Microsoft Office Suite and HTML, and photo editing skills required.

Knowledge of Adobe CS3 or higher, Web content management systems (Web content editors) and online social networking a plus.

Initially, the internship is unpaid, but the opportunity exists for a double semester with the second semester paid at an hourly rate if the student is a good fit. Looking for 20 hours per week and can be flexible regarding schedule and start/end times.

The Kiwanis International Headquarters (College Park, north side of Indianapolis) supports Kiwanis clubs, districts, divisions, and programs throughout the world, including its Service Leadership Programs for youth members.
